My gift

I thought this year for retreat I would make something for the girls I was sitting with as a little thank-you gift.  There were 5 of us on the table and 3 of them had shared a table with me last year.  I am really getting into 3D items and thought I would give something  different a try.  I decided on making a little notebook/pen folder for the girls.  I personalized them by die-cutting out the letter of their first name and covering it with silver rhinestones.  A girl can never had too much bling in her life.  I also found some mini gel pens and matched the ink colour of the pens to the colour’s I used on the folder.  As you can see I used the bigshot to die cut out all the shapes and stamped the flower stems. So quick and easy I really enjoyed making these.

The one with the “H” was for Helen, the one with the “N” was for Nerida, and I made two with the letter “K”, one for Karen and one for Kirstyn.

I hope you like them.

Explosion Box

So while I was at retreat I got the chance to make an explosion box.  The very talented Michelle Zahra from Innisfail was making one and was so very generous in letting me and a couple of the other girls “copy” her.  I chose to alter mine a little and made it into a “love explosion box” for my husband.  I am so very very happy with how this turned out.

The second photo is of the box in its complete form.  I really have to thank Shannean Moncrieff my very talented Stampin Up demonstrator for making me the red rose on top.  She has attempted to teach me how to make them on a couple of occasions now and I still cant do it anywhere near as well as she does.

The first photo is of the box open.  As you can see I did love hearts and flowers on the inside of my box.  The scallop oval at the front says “I Love You The Most”, the perfect sentiment for my husband.

Here is a close up of the message and the message in the middle of the box just says “I Love You”.

Creative Elements Easel Card

So this is another one I made at retreat this year, its a altered version of a card I made at one of the Stamp Clubs I am involved in.  I took the original one to work and one of the girls asked me if I could make it for her but as an easel card. I have just started selling my cards for $5 so have been pretty chuffed that some of the girls at work like my cards enough that they are prepared to pay for them.

Field Flowers

Ahhh I am totally in love with this stamp set.  I don’t know what it is about it, but I just love it to bits.  I made this card at retreat, actually it was the very last card I made on Sunday before we packed up and went home 😦

As part of our retreat we all make swaps to share and we vote on which one we think is the nicest.  Although the design of this card is my own I did copy one of the girls swaps by making it a Tag Easel card.  Blue is my favourite color so anytime I can make a blue card with a stamp set I love I am definitely going to jump at the chance.  The funniest thing about this card….. one of the girls I was sitting with at retreat has asked me to make her one, and I hadn’t even finished it when she asked.  She’s a scapper (she loves scapbooking… :)), and is more than capable and talented to make this card on her own, so I was quite chuffed when she asked me to make one for her.  Oh that reminds me I guess I better get a start on it this week.

I hope you like this card, this is definitely the style I like. I’m not sure if you would call it shabby chic, or vintage or what but I tend to be drawn to this type of card.

Retreat Cards

I’m finally ready to post some photos of the cards I made at retreat this year.  Hope you like them. This first one is a mini card I made with the new SU Triple Treat Flower stamp.  I love this little flower. I think I will be using it alot.

I used Perfect Plum, Elegant Eggplant and Rich Razzleberry, I’m not really a purple girl but I do love how all three of these colours go so well together.  I love the little tags too, I really think they look great in the three different colours.

It’s my birthday!!

Hi again

well it sure has been a big week, first the 3 wonderful days at Retreat and then my 40th birthday on Monday.  My fantastic husband surprised me with an amazing present.  I came home from retreat on Sunday night raving about this guillotine/rotary cutter I had been told about at retreat.  So guess what he did, he drove all the way to Babinda to see Leanne and Danny at Scraptherapy and bought me a Purple Cow guillotine.  What a hubby hey? 🙂

So it’s now Tuesday and I still haven’t fully unpacked all my craft stuff from my big weekend away, and my husband has started painting a black feature wall in my craft room for me.  He’s only home for 2 weeks, but boy is he making everyday worthwhile.  I’m now on the look out for a wall decal that is craft related.  Thinking something like the word “Create” or something along those lines, just need to find a white one to go on the new black wall.  I will post progress and completion photos, as soon as I can get back into my craft room and put everything back in its right place.

Well I have lots of new things to show you that I have been making, but they will have to wait for later in the week.

I’m Back!!!!!!!

Hi again

well I have had a very busy week-end.  I attended my second SU Retreat up here in FNQ, and had a ball.  Shannean did another amazing job organizing and planning every detail right down to the smallest of things.  Again this year we were so very fortunate to receive a “goody bag”, and again this year it contained some fantastic items.  We got a SU wood mount stamp set, DSP pack, ribbon, some chocolate wafers and DSP to decorate the tin, and many more.  The gift I loved the most was our CD tin that Shannean had decorated in our favourite colour and contained a little notepad and pen.  She did a beautiful job of creating all 33 of them.  It was lovely to spend 3 whole days with people who love Stampin Up and love card making or scapbooking.

To my surprise I was extremely productive and created 22 cards, 1 explosion box and a candle holder from tin flashing (thanks for the class Sandra).  We were offered 6 different technique classes over the three days by 6 very talented ladies.

I would definitely recommend that if you have the opportunity to attend one of these types of events that you do so, it’s so lovely to not have to worry about cleaning the house, feeding the kids, or even listening to the husband….. hahaha

I always enjoy our retreat that we have up here and am definitely attending next years, they just seem to get bigger and better every year. I will post photos in the coming week.

Thanks for visiting.
