Stamping for a Cohrs

Yesterday I attended a breast cancer fundraiser, it was to help Sharon Cohrs, a local Cairns lady, raise money for a cure to breast cancer.  For those of you who don’t know here’s a little background on Sharon.

Sharon is the first breast cancer survivor to summit Mt Everest.  She accomplished this amazing feat earlier this year with her husband, which also made them the first married couple to ever climb Mt Everest too.

She is an amazing lady and is working hard to help find a cure for breast cancer for all women. My friend Shannean organized an all day card making fundraiser yesterday which was well attended and raised over $3000.00 for Sharon.

Here are the four projects we made during the day.

We made this little box and stamped it with the Delicate Doilies stamp with versamark and used white embossing powder.  Shannean then came along and filled it with “Cool Mints” for us.

This little cutie is made with the Hello Blossoms stamp.  Such a simple, quick card to make for when your in a hurry.

The third one is made with one of the Simply Sent kits and the Delightful Decorations stamp set.

This final card was made with an oldie but a goodie….Vintage Vogue.

I think everyone had a great day yesterday, I know I did.

Established Elegance

The next three cards I want to post are one I did at Sally’s class about a week or so ago.  She is just loving the Established Elegance stamp set in this years SU catalogue, as we all are, and came up with some great ideas for cards.  I don’t own this stamp set yet but it’s definitely on the shopping list.

Hope you like what you see.

I just love brown and blue together, and as you can see so does Sally.

Simply Soft

Hi

I made this card about a week ago, at the same time as the purple field flowers card I have already posted but didn’t want to post it until I gave it away.  This is the card I made for Sandra for her birthday.  I cased it from Lyn Weiss you can check out her blog here if you like, http://www.lwdesigns.blogspot.com.  I really love Lyn’s stuff and seeing as I was already late with Sandra’s card I wanted to make something a bit special.  I just love this card and have taken lots of photo’s of it so I can make a second one, which I didn’t do at the time.

Retreat Dinner

Hi again

Sorry I haven’t posted for a little while, have lots to show you but just haven’t found the time to download the photos to post.  I finally got around to doing it today, in between loads of washing.

Today I want to post something a little different.  If you have been following my blog you would by now know that I attend a card making retreat once a year.  Although this year was only my second retreat the group of girls that I card make with on a Tuesday night like to show their appreciation and thank our esteemed leader Shannean for all the hard work she puts in to making retreat such a fabulous three days for everyone.  So last year we took her out for dinner to a local chinese restaurant.  This year it was decided that we should continue the tradition and go again.

Unlike last year I remembered to take a photo of us all this time.  So here it is….

From left to right is.. Kirstyn, Helen, Karen, Emily, Mette, Sandra, & Shannean.

We had a great night and stayed so late that even the waitress left before we did.

Another Field Flowers Card

So I’m pretty sure I have mentioned at least once that this is my most FAVOURITE stamp set in the new SU catalogue.  I just LOVE it so much!!!!!!

I cased this card from Lisa Weiss you can check out her blog here http://lwdesigns.blogspot.com if your interested.  I discovered her blog by accident and totally love all of her stuff. She is very talented.

I have decided to send this card to my beautiful step-daughter for her 19th birthday on Oct 31, yes I know Halloween, and it was very tempting to make her a Halloween card, but I figured seeing as she has never had a Halloween birthday party why start making Halloween birthday cards now.

I really hope she likes it.  I did change it a bit from Lisa’s I added some pearls (non-SU) and used a different colour scheme and different lace.  I am really happy with how it turned out.

My Craft Room

Hi again

I thought today I would post something a little bit different.  My husband and I have been busy working on creating a craft room that is practical as well as functional, we haven’t completely finished but its pretty close.  I just need to get another storage unit, although I’m still deciding on what form that will take, and some shelves put up on the walls on either side of the window.

My wonderful husband painted me a black, yes I said BLACK feature wall, which I just love by the way, and goes really well with my red, black and white colour scheme.  I am currently on the lookout for a wall decal in white that says something like “CREATE” or “INSPIRE”, to put above my window,  if you know where I can get a white one from I would love to hear from you.   The first photo is after all my furniture had been put back in place and the blind had been put back up. What do you think of my black wall???  I just love it.

The next photo is my cubed wall unit that holds all my stamps (they are in the blue boxes) and my embossing folders, bigz dies, big shot and other essential crafting items.

The little cupboard is not only great for holding my ribbon holder, but it holds all my surplus supplies like tape, dimensionals etc as well as containers with all the swaps I have received and a container with non-SU ribbons.  This is my little storage nook, I have my noticeboard and crates of DSP and card stock stored here as well as some of my large travel craft bags.

The other desk is my temporary option until I get another one the same as my big desk.

This is my desk and by my standards its quite messy I usually have it all very neat and tidy.  I can’t work in a mess.   Eeeww I just noticed my chair, I really think its almost time to replace it.  Its starting to look a bit shabby, mostly thanks to my two cats who enjoy scratching on it.

This little shelving unit holds my non-SU stuff and all my punches.

This final photo is of my black wall, just after Mal painted, thats why the chairs are all lined up in front of it and the blind has been removed.

Sense of Time

I just love this set, and was sad to see it be retired this year.  I am so very glad I purchased it early on, as I have used this more than once.  It makes wonderful male cards, which is always one of my most difficult challenges.  I made this next card for my wonderful father-in-law for his birthday last year.  My father-in-law is a funny character and it took me a long time to “get” him, but after nearly 17 years I think  I finally have….hahaha

I really loved this card when it was finished, it was one I made at Sally’s class, and I am so glad I sent  it to Roy, he was so funny when he received it, he showed everyone he met and took it to church and to his Lions club meeting so show all his friends.  Even though he has had another birthday since receiving this card he still has it on display in his bedroom.

He is definitely my number one fan when it comes to my cards, that’s besides my husband of course… 🙂  I love making cards for him because I know how much he loves them and appreciates them, he always rings me up and raves about how much he loves the card…..what a sweetie!!!
