Angry Birds

Hi again,

Yes I know, I’m shocked too that I’m posting so soon after my last post….lol

Next weekend I have a bowling birthday party to go to for a special little boy and he is just mad about Angry Birds, so I decided to make him an Angry Bird birthday card.  Now as you know I don’t have small children any more so I’m not really up with the latest fad for kids, so I don’t  know much about Angry Birds, but I do know that there is a red one….tee hee.

I found this card on Splitcoast Stampers and thought it looked simple enough.  I don’t usually do punch art cards, (that’s my friend Sandra’s forte), but I couldn’t go pass this one.

I hope my little buddy Tom likes it… 🙂

Take a look and see if you think it looks like an angry bird.

I am thinking I may do another one for a bigger boy who has his birthday coming up in the next couple of months.   I used Poppy Parade, Basic Black , Whisper White and Daffodil Delight card stock.   It really was so very simple and quick.

Thanks for visiting.

Apothecary Art Birthday Card

This is  a post I wrote several weeks ago and have had it saved as a draft until after I gave the card to my friend.  As is usual the card was late even though I had it made weeks before Shan’s birthday, I actually made it the same day as my friend Kirstyn’s birthday card as well as another friends card, who I haven’t caught up with yet either.  Unfortunately I wasn’t able to catch up with Shan for her birthday so she only got her card the other day….way way too late.  I will have to try harder next year.

I have been busy today making three different birthday cards for some of my friends who have birthdays coming up shortly.  I cased this card from Amy White it is so simple but I just love the shimmer paint effect on the flowers.

I used Paisley Petals DSP and mounted it on Always Artichoke cardstock.  I love this colour and really should use it more often.  I used my scallop punch to make a border between the two DSP’s.  I then cut out two framelits, one in Always Artichoke and one in Confetti Vanilla and stamped Apothecary Art onto the vanilla.  I coloured in the leaves in River Rock with my marker and cut out the flowers of a second stamp and popped them up with glue dots and coloured them in with champagne shimmer paint and a blender pen.  Then I added some pearls for the finishing touch.

Happy Birthday Shanni, hope your day was fabulous just like you!!!!!!

I really hope my friend likes it.

Thanks for visiting.

Happy Birthday Mum

I made this card back in June for my mum for her birthday and just recently realised that I hadn’t posted it.  So here it is.  My mum loves pink so I always try to make her a pink birthday card.

I used the retired a rose is a rose stamp set for this card, and one of the new adorning accents folders.  I pretty happy with  how this turned out.

Hope you had a fantastic day mum….Love You!!!

Retreat Photo’s

So by now, if you have been reading my posts you will know that I spent last weekend at a stamping retreat with some fabulous ladies.  I thought I would show you some photo’s I took over the weekend.

These first few photos were taken before the retreat started (that’s why the tables are so neat and tidy).  This is the big shot station.

This is the current stamp sets table (above) and right beside it was the tools table (below).

This is the retired stamps set and embossing station.

This is how the tables were set up for everyone.  All the places had the same gifts and the chef’s hats were named so everyone knew where to sit.  How cute are these little gifts?  The mini milk carton had an individual stamp inside too.

There were three tables set up just like this one.   Here are some shots of the other tables too.

This is the bosses table…lol

Here is a close up of the place settings.  The only thing missing is the pink cupcake which sat inside the holder.

Below is a wide shot of the whole room, as you can see it was a small group who came, but that didn’t make it any less fun.  Can you see the bags sitting on the chairs in the foreground?  These were also gifts for everyone who attended and held the free DSP pack that we all received, as well as order forms, wish lists etc.

Here is a shot of Sally in her “shop” area.

Next I want to show you some photo’s of the girls receiving their awards for winning the competitions.  This is Sally presenting Kay with her award for winning the most cards made over the weekend competition.

Here is Leigh receiving her award for coming second in the mystery bag competition.  Don’t you love the girls in their chef’s hats.  As I mentioned in earlier posts it was a masterchef theme retreat, thus the hats and wooden spoons as awards.

Here is Sandra receiving her award for coming second in the most cards made over the weekend competition.  Pretty amazing seeing as  she missed half of the first day.  Way to go Mrs M!!!!

This is the lovely Tammy who pipped me at the post for the invention test accepting her first place award for her trio of fantastic boxes she made.  All winners also received a Reason to Smile stamp set too.

Doesn’t Leigh just look terrific in her chef’s hat?

Next I want to show you some of the amazing cards that were created over the weekend.  I have forgotten who made all of them, so I am sorry to those girls.

This gorgeous wedding card was  made by Leigh, isn’t she clever?

Helen made this beautifully bright 50th birthday card.  I think it is just lovely.  I am sure her friend is going to love it.

I think this gorgeous pink creation was made by Chris.  I just love the DSP.  Although I’m not a pink girl I am loving this card.

This stamp set, Hello, Blossoms, was definitely the stamp set of the weekend.  All the girls had fun with this set and made some fantastic cards.   This particular one is made by Jan and inspired many of the girls to make lots of cards with this stamp set.

Jan also made this beautiful card.  She actually won the mystery bag competition with this card.  I think I will be casing this card Jan.
Jo made this card for her son to give to her husband for Fathers Day and its just soooo cute.  I think her hubby is going to love it, I know I do.

The next three cards are one’s that I can’t remember who made them so if you reading this and know who did please leave me a message.  I love these three too and will be casing them soon.

I love the flower on this card.

I think Helen made this card but a couple of girls made cards very similiar to this one so I may be wrong.  Love that butterfly.

I think this card is just lovely.  I love the Just Believe stamp set.

Well as you can see we had a fantastic weekend and lots of fantastic cards and scrapbook pages were made.  We are all looking forward to the next one.

My Retreat Creations – The Open Sea

Hello again

Well I mentioned in my previous post that I had one more card from retreat to show you.  I have finally got around to photographing it and its ready to show you.  I love this stamp set and have used it heaps of times.  It seems to be my “go to” stamp set when I am making masculine cards.

I made this card for my brother who is having a birthday this  month.  He has a boat so hopefully he will like it.

I used some retired DSP that was in our invention test bag from retreat.  I actually entered this card in the invention test and got second prize for it.  Wow how exciting was that!!!!  I really didn’t expect it as the entries were all so fantastic.

Do you want to see what my prize was?  Ok take a look at this fabulous award.  It is going to take pride of place in my craft room.

Isn’t it fabulous?  Sally decorated these wooden spoons for first and second places for the competitions we had over the weekend.

Thanks for visiting.

My retreat creations – Extreme Skateboard

This is the final card I am going to show you from last weekend’s retreat.  I have one more card to show you but I have just realised I haven’t photographed it, so I will do that tomorrow and post it then.

This card is all my own creation and I made it for my eldest step-son’s birthday coming up this month.  Corey will be turning 23 this year so its always hard to make a young man’s card.  I hope he likes it.

I stamped the skateboard dude with wild wasabi then embossed it with clear embossing  powder, then I stamped over it with some of the stamps from the extreme elements stamp set.  I also stamped the large star with extreme elements too.  I stamped the words with chocolate chip and then clear embossed them too.

I’m really happy with how this turned out, even if it did take me ages to work it out.  That’s the best thing about casing you don’t have to waste time trying to come up with ideas, someone has already done it for you….tee hee

Again thanks for visiting and I hope you saw something you liked.

Sweets for the Sweet – Retreat Make & Takes

The following two cards were the make and takes that Sally for us to make at retreat.  They are quite simple but really really cute and were so much fun to make.

They are perfect for kids (or Helen) with their bright colours.

How cute is that lollipop?  Like I said these cards are so simple but just too cute.  I think I might have to make one of these for my little grandbaby.

Here is the second card and of course with having a Masterchef theme the make and takes had to be food orientated.

Thanks for visiting.
