Not sure what the weather was like where you are over the past weekend, but up here in Cairns we have had torrential since last Friday night. And when I say torrential I really mean it, over the weekend rivers all over the place were flooded, roads were covered in water and any low lying land turned into inland oceans of water. I guess that’s what you get when you live in the tropics.
I can’t really complain though we haven’t had much of a wet season up until now. Anyway with weather like that what better time than to spend the weekend with a couple of girl-friends and craft our little hearts out.
My friend Mel Dunstan invited myself and two of our friends, Michelle Zahra and Wendy Taggert from Innisfail to come stay at her place on Saturday and Sunday for a little bit of a girly craft weekend. Just between you and me we all had an absolute ball. It was lovely to catch up with all the girls for a couple of days of uninterrupted crafting.
During the weekend Mel had arranged a class for a couple of new crafters and us three girls decided to join in on the fun.
Mel wanted to keep the cards simple as both of her class attendees were beginner crafters so she decided to CASE a couple of cards you can see in our current Sale-a-bration catalogue, using the FREE Sale-a-bration products.
Take a look at what we made…
This is such a quick and easy card to make when you need a birthday card in a hurry, and the best thing is that the stamp set is completly FREE when you purchase $90 or more from Stampin’ Up between Jan 6 and March 31st. This stamp set is called Big Day and can be found on page 12 of the current Sale-a-bration catalogue.
The second card Mel taught us was a Valentine Day card. Such a cute card using a brand new stamp set available in our annual catalogue. The punched out love hearts running down the side of the card are also a brand new product. The stamp set used for this card is called Groovy Love and the punch is called Confetti Heart Border Punch, available in the current season catalogue. Even I learnt something new while making this card, the ribbon tying the love hearts down is a really neat little trick, a bit fiddly but a clever idea. Mel added some new Washi Tape down the left hand side if the card too.
Our third and final card is made using another Sale-a-bration stamp set, called Lotus Blossom. Its a nifty little stamp that uses a technique called 3 Step Stamping. Basically it means you have three stamps with different parts of the lotus flower and once you have stamped them all on top of each other in different shades you end up with this gorgeous lotus flower. I changed my card just a little bit for a bit of individuality.
If you have liked what you have seen here and would like to get some of these FREE stamp sets for yourself then pop on over to my Stampin’ Up! shop and once you have purchased a minimum of $90 you too can choose 1 FREE item from the Sale-a-Bration catalogue.
Thanks for visiting.
