ESAD Birthday Fairy – March #3

Hi Friends

I know I got side tracked with the Weekly Deals and forgot to show you the other ESAD Birthday Fairy cards that I made for March. Well don’t fret I have the rest of them for you.  Here is the next card in this series of cards.

ESAD Birthday Fairy - March 3

Again, this card has a Basic Black card stock base and is layered with Crisp Cantelope card stock and then a layer of Sweet Sorbert designer series paper.  Are you starting to notice the similarities in all these cards?

Like the other cards this card is made using the new Scalloped Tag Topper Punch from Stampin’ Up! and is really easy to do.  The flower is punched out using the Pansy Punch in Crisp Cantelope card stock with a small Scalloped Circle Punch for the centre of the flower.  A rhinestone is in the middle of the flower for a bit of bling.  The Little Leaves Sizzlit was used to die cut the leaves out in Pistachio Pudding card stock and Crisp Cantelope Bakers Twine is used to tie the card closed.

I would love to see you over at my business blog at http://www.stampinup.net/esuite/home/tina-janejohnson/ where you can check out all the current catalogues, my gallery of current and previous creations and lots of inspiration from Stampin’ Up! too.  Oh yeah, you can also shop online from there too 🙂

Thanks for visiting.

Welcome Baby Boy

Hi Friends

Boy I am so out of routine at the moment, what with two long weekends in a row, I have really been slacking off

I still have lots of swaps to complete before I head off to Melbourne on May 20 for the Stampin’ Up! annual convention.  I am so looking forward to it.  I attended my first convention last year and ABSOLUTELY loved it.

If you are a scrap booker, card maker or paper crafter it is one of the BEST three days of the year, even if you’re not an SU demonstrator.

Ok, I’m getting side tracked this post is not about my convention swaps.  I promise I will show them to you but not until convention is over I don’t want to spoil the surprise.

Today’s card is a baby boy card I made for the manager or HR at work, Scott and his wife, Megan, recently had their first baby and I suggested I make a card to help celebrate the birth of this new bouncing baby boy from all the girls in payroll (where I work).

As you would assume the card is of course…BLUE!!!!

Baby Boy card

My inspiration for this card was taken from a card I saw that was created by Debbie Henderson.  I started with Bashful Blue card stock as my base card and embossed a mat of Whisper White card stock with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.

I then cut four strips of Bashful Blue grosgrain ribbon and layered them from top to bottom and left to right.  The heart from the Hearts a Flutter stamp set was embossed with white embossing powder onto Bashful Blue card stock and die cut with the Hearts A Flutter Framelits.

The star from the Simply Stars stamp set was stamped on Whisper White card stock with Bashful Blue ink and the “Sweet Baby” greeting was also stamped with Bashful Blue ink onto Whisper White card stock.  The greeting comes from the Itty Bitty Banners stamp set and was also die cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits.

Basic pearls were added as a final touch to the heart and to the ribbons.

That is one of the FABULOUS things about Stampin’ Up! not only does the card stock, ink pads and ribbons/embellishments co-ordinate with each other but a lot of the stamp sets either co-ordinate with either the punches, framelits, thinlits or dies.

It really does making beautiful cards and scrap booking pages so very very easy.

All products shown here and many more can be purchased online (the easiest way to do it) from my blog over at  http://www.stampinup.net/esuite/home/tina-janejohnson/.   Just click the SHOP button and your on your way.  It really is that simple.  Remember all order of $300 or more qualify for Stampin’ Rewards which you can redeem on a selected range of products.  So why wait get shopping and discover your favorite SU product today.

ESAD Birthday Fairy – March #2

Hi Friends

Are you like me and returned to work today after a wonderful four day long weekend?  I must admit it was a little bit difficult to get out of bed at 6am this morning to get ready for work after relaxing four day Easter weekend.

Not that I sleep in very much, but if I don’t have to go to work I might sleep in until say 7.00 to 7.30am.

As promised yesterday I am back today to show you the second card I made for the ESAD Birthday Fairy Challenge for March. I really must post these and the February card’s off this weekend.  The ladies must be thinking I have forgotten them.

ESAD Birthday Fairy - March 2 My card today is again a Scalloped Tag Punch card.  This time I used Whisper White card stock as my base card and added a layer of Crisp Cantelope card stock on both the front flap and the inside of the card, and then a layer of the Sweet Sorbet DSP.

Stampin’ Up!’s DSP is great, it comes in 12 x 12 doubled sided sheets.  In each packet you receive 2 sheets of each page, that’s 12 double sided pages per packet.  The Sweet Sorbet DSP is another product I received for free during SALE-A-BRATION in February. I really like this striped pattern, although it did give me a bit of grief because until I started cutting it I didn’t realize that the lines weren’t straight.

That definitely sent my OCD into a spin let me tell you.

I used the Pansy Punch again to make the flower with Crisp Cantelope and the Small Scalloped Circle Punch for the centre of the flower.  Like yesterday’s card the leaves are die cut from Pistachio Pudding card stock with the Little Leaves Sizzlit.  I also added a Candy Dot and Basic Brad Base to the centre of the flower. The bakers twine in Crisp Cantelope was a free product I received from SALE-A-BRATION.

All of these products (except those received during the SALE-A-BRATION period) are available for purchase over at my business blog at http://www.stampinup.net/esuite/home/tina-janejohnson/.

By purchasing online you can have you order mailed directly to your front door.  Remember you can earn Stampin’ Rewards when your merchandise subtotal reaches $300.00!

If you are considering joining Stampin’ Up! to receive the amazing discounts and special offers available to demonstrators please text or email me today. I would love to chat to you about Stampin’ Up! and have you join my team.

Come back tomorrow to see my next ESAD Birthday Fairy Challenge card for March.

ESAD Birthday Fairy – March

Hi Friends

I hope you have all had a very lovely, relaxing, safe Easter.  My husband and I have spent a blissful four days lazing around the house relaxing and doing as little as possible…lol

This is partly due to us both still trying to get over our chest infections, my husband having an injured knee and us taking advantage of the four-day weekend to spend some time at home.

I did do some crafting over the Easter break, although admittedly not as much as I would’ve liked.

A couple of weekends ago I finally felt well enough to make my March ESAD Birthday Fairy Challenge cards.  This was of course before I fell ill with this chest infection.  It seems this year I have gone from one illness/injury to another.  I am hoping that is the last of it for quite a while.  It really does put a dent into my crafting time 🙂

For the month of March I decided to go with a card that is currently on trend and you will most likely see all over the internet, especially Pinterest.  You really don’t have to look to hard to find this type of card out in cyber space.

I’m not exactly sure of the “official” name of this card but I have seen it called the Scalloped Tag Punch card.  It is a really simple card format and is great if you are making cards on mass, which I am doing, and of course it is made using the new Scalloped Tag Punch from Stampin’ Up!

As I have done in past ESAD Birthday Fairy List Challenge months I have stuck with similar components on all cards but just mixed them up a bit.

ESAD Birthday Fairy - March 1

The similar components on all these cards is the card style, Scalloped Tag Punch and the designer series paper that I used.  Stampin’ Up! have just completed their annual big sale event of the year, SALE-A-BRATION.  It’s a fantastic time to not only purchase Stampin’ Up! products and receive exclusive free gifts but also the best time of year (in my humble opinion) to join Stampin’ Up!.

I joined Stampin’ Up! during last year’s SALE-A-BRATION event and received lots of wonderful discounts and free gifts.

I decided to use one of the many, many free packets of Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper I received during this year’s SALE-A-BRATION as my feature.

This card has a Basic Black card base with mats of Summer Starfruit on both the front and inside of the card, and a mat of the Sweet Sorbet DSP.  The flower is punched out using the Pansy Punch and the 7/8″ Scalloped Circle Punch.  The Little Leaves Sizzlit was used to punch out the Pistachio Pudding leaves and the Summer Starfruit Bakers Twine (also free through SALE-A-BRATION) was used to tie the card closed.

If you look closely enough you will see a Candy Dots Brad Base with a Black Candy Dot on top.

Thanks for visiting.

Masculine Perfect Pennants

Hi Friends

We have been experiencing a cyclone here in Cairns over the past 24hrs, so things have been a bit wet, wild and windy.

My card today is one I made a couple of weeks ago for one of the ladies at work.  I was asked to make a card for her husband who has recently suffered from a stroke.

I always enjoy making cards for the girls at work but this was a difficult request.

I didn’t want to do a traditional sympathy card or even a get well card (with strokes some people never get well and I didn’t want to seem insensitive).

Thankfully Stampin’ Up! have this fabulous new stamp set and matching framelits called Perfect Pennants.  The stamp set has some really lovely sayings, so I borrowed the stamp set from my Stampin’ Up! grandma (thanks Shan!!!) and got to work.

Felicity & Keiths card

I started with Chocolate Chip card stock as my base card and added a mat of Crumb Cake card stock which was embossed with the new Arrows embossing folder and stamped with the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set.  I also cut out a banner from the coordinating Banner framelits set in Chocolate Chip card stock and embossed it with the Arrows embossing folder too.

Next I added a second banner in Soft Sky card stock (mainly to break up all the brown) and stamped it with this lovely saying from the Perfect Pennants stamp set in Versamark and then embossed it with Early Expresso embossing powder.  I used dimensionals to adhere the Soft Sky banner to the Chocolate Chip banner.  I wrapped some Chocolate Chip Chevron ribbon around the Crumb Cake mat, and added three chevrons from the Chevron Punch down the left hand side which I coated on Crystal Effects.

I think this saying is a lot more appropriate than “Get Well” don’t you?

Felicity & Keiths card inside

Of course with the base card being a dark colour I had to add a Crumb Cake mat for the inside.  This was also stamped with the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set in both Chocolate Chip and Soft Sky ink.

I am really happy with how the card turned out.  It took me a couple of days of trying out different elements before I got it just right.  I would love to hear your thoughts on my card.

Remember all the products mentioned above and many many more can be found in the current Stampin’ Up! main catalogue and the Ocassions Mini catalogue (there is a link to both on my HOME page that you can download).  If you prefer to have a hard copy of either catalogue then contact me today and I can post them out.

Remember both catalogues end on June 30 so get in quick to get all these amazing products before they are possibly discontinued.

The easiest way to purchase any Stampin’ Up! products from me (especially if you are interstate) is to pop on over to my business blog at http://www.stampinup.net/esuite/home/tina-janejohnson/ click on SHOP, create your own account (or sign in if you already have an account) and start your order.  All orders of $300 or more will earn REWARD POINTS that you can redeem on FREE exclusive products.

Engagement Card for Haley

Hi Friends

I hope you are all having a wonderful week.  As usual mine is crazy busy at work and on top of that I have a very sick  husband at home to care for too.  Not only does he have a suspected torn ACL in his left knee (still waiting for the appointment for the MRI to be booked by the defence medical centre), he has also been diagnosed with bronchitis and chest infection which is triggering off his asthma.  Poor baby, he isn’t a sooky sick man but when he gets really sick like this I do feel for him, usually he soldiers on regardless of his illnesses.  Unfortunately this time he has been floored and is spending lots of time on the couch sleeping.

Despite looking after my husband I  have had time to do some crafting.  My daughter asked me a little while back if I would make a card for one of her old high school friends who has just recently got engaged to her high school sweetheart.  Haley is such a lovely sweet girl I was more than happy to make a card for her.

Haley has always loved orange and I have in the past made her the odd birthday card (also in orange) as well.

I decided to use the Blessed Easter stamp set and just leave off the words.

Haley's engagment card

I started with Basic Black card stock as my base card and then added an embossed layer of Pumpkin Pie card stock.  I stamped watercolour paper with the gorgeous tulips from the Blessed Easter stamp set using Versamark and embossing them with black embossing powder.

Then I used my watercolour pens (which don’t get much use to be honest), and coloured the tulips with Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie ink.  The leaves were watercoloured with Old Olive and Always Artichoke ink pads.

I don’t have a natural painting skill by any stretch of the imagination but I do like how these flowers have turned out.

I matted the watercolour paper with a piece of Basic Black card stock that was cut with the Oval Framelits and a strip of black (non-SU) ribbon and Pumpkin Pie ribbon were added for extra detail.  Finally I added three black pearls for the”bling” factor.

Haley's engagment card close up

I stamped, watercoloured and fussy cut out a second lot of tulips and popped them up with dimensional onto of the original stamped image to add a bit of dimension.

As the base card is Basic Black, of course I  had to add a mat to the inside for the message of congratulations.

Haley's engagement card inside

I also stamped the tulips inside to carry the theme on.

I am so happy with how this card has turned out.  I usually make an absolute mess of cards when I attempt to watercolour but in this case I think I got it right.

What do you think?  I would love to hear your thoughts.

Remember all these products and more can be purchased online from my business blog over at http://www.stampinup.net/esuite/home/tina-janejohnson/, just click on the SHOP button in the top right hand corner and start shopping.  It’s that easy, really it is.

I will be back soon with another card I have made recently.

Giraffe Happy Birthday

Hi Friends

Firstly I would like to apologize for the extremely short post a couple of days ago for my final ESAD Birthday Fairy card.  I was so tired I could barely put two words together so stringing multiple sentences was definitely a major task.

I hope you didn’t think I was being rude.

I hope you have all had a lovely relaxing weekend and are ready to head back to work tomorrow.  I always wish the weekend was longer than just two days, especially on a Sunday night.

A little while back my team leader at work had a birthday and I like to make a card for each of the ladies at work for their birthdays. So I decided to make a card I knew Jenny would love.

Almost two years ago Jenny and her husband Rob visited Africa and had an absolute ball.  Jen has always had a fond affection for giraffe’s but her visit to Africa just cemented that love so much more.

I had seen a punch art giraffe on Pinterest (I think Debbie Henderson created it), so I thought I would give it a go.

I was surprised how easy it was to make all these different shapes into such a cute little creature.

Jenny's Birthday card

Cute hey?

I started with Crumb Cake card stock as my base card then added a layer of So Saffron and Always Artichoke card stock.  The giraffe is made from So Saffron, Early Expresso, Basic Black, Crumb Cake, Pink Pirouette and Cajun Craze card stock.  I also used circle punches, the small and large oval punch, the owl punch and the five petals punch.

I just love his little tail.

I didn’t want to add too much else to the front of the card as I wanted the giraffe to be the main focus.

I am happy to report Jenny loved her giraffe birthday card to bits.

Just a little reminder all these products and more can be easily purchased by visiting my business blog at http://www.stampinup.net/esuite/home/tina-janejohnson/ and clicking on the SHOP button.

I will be back very soon with some more cards I have been making.

Thanks for visiting.
