Welcome Baby Girl

Hi Friends

Well I thought I would post one last card before I head off to convention next Tuesday morning.  I am so looking forward to it.  It is probably some of the best days of my year.

The card I want to show you today is one I made a month ago.  My husband is a member of a Defence Force motorbike club called the Patriots and one of the guys in the club become a dad for the very first time a little while back.  As a result my husband asked me if I could make a baby card for all the guys in the club to sign and give to the new mum and dad.

I came across this design of card online somewhere, to be honest it was so long ago I can’t remember if it was on Pinterest or on someone’s blog.  I follow so many blogs I loose track after a while.

Although I cased the card type the design is all my own.

Baby Girl building block card

I started with Very Vanilla card stock and matted it with Pretty in Pink card stock and then another mat of Pink Pirouette card stock which was embossed with the Fancy Fan embossing folder from Stampin’ Up!.

Next I die cut out the scalloped square frame and stamped the baby booties in VersaMark and embossed with White Embossing Powder onto Pretty in Pink card stock.

I stamped the “hello baby” in Pretty in Pink ink onto Very Vanilla card stock and punched it out with the Large Oval Punch.  Then I added a strip of the Pleated Ribbon in Pink Pirouette.

I thought I would make this card using the baby booties because the previous card I made using them has had lots and lots of hits on Pinterest so obviously its a favourite.

Here is the link to the previous card I made using the booties.  https://mtjohnson02.wordpress.com/2011/11/22/stitched-stockings/

I can’t believe it was 2011 when I made this card, boy does time fly.

Anyway, I digress.  The name of this type of card is called a Building Block card, and this is why….

This is what it looks like when you open it.  Cool hey?

Again I added lots of mats of Pretty in Pink and Pink Pirouette card stock.  I also die cut out the letters to spell BABY GIRL..  I left the left hand side panel blank so there would be lots of room for all the guys from the motorbike club to sign.

This card was so much fun to make, a little tricky at first to make sure all the measurements were correct but after an initial practice one I got it right.

I would love to hear your comments about my card.

ESAD Birthday Fairy – March #6

Hi Friends

Sorry I have been pretty slack at posting lately.  I am in the early stages of making some major life changes and they seem to be consuming my time at the moment.  Oh that and trying to get all my Stampin’ Up! convention swaps finished in time.

Finally this is the last ESAD Birthday Fairy card for March.  I know pretty late hey?  I keep reminding myself that we are now in the middle of May and I still haven’t made the April or May ESAD Birthday Fairy cards or even posted the February and March ESAD Birthday Fairy cards.

I have no excuse other than life has just got in the way.

Like the previous five cards this card is made from the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch from Stampin’ Up! and utilizes some of the Sweet Sorbet designer series paper I earned during Sale-a-bration in February.

ESAD Birthday Fairy - March

The base of this card is made from Whisper White card stock with two mats of Summer Starfruit, one inside and one on the front panel, and as mentioned above a mat of Sweet Sorbet DSP.

The flower is also made from Summer Starfruit card stock and the leaves die cut with the Bigshot using the Little Leaves Sizzlit is cut from Pistachio Pudding card stock.  In the centre of the flower is a rhinestone for a bit of bling.

The card is tied closed with Summer Starfruit bakers twine.

I am heading off to convention in 5 days so I can’t promise I will have time to post before that.  I do promise though that although I may not post during the 5 days that I am in Melbourne, what with being busy all day and most of the night with convention activities, I will definitely have lots to show you when I get home.

I am planning on taking lots and lots of photos of convention just like last year, so if you aren’t able to make it this year stay tuned because you will be able to learn all about it when I return.

Update on swaps: I have about 40 swaps still to make so this weekend I am going to making the final push to get them completed.

Thanks for your patience and thanks for visiting.

ESAD Birthday Fairy – March #5

Hi Friends

Sorry for the mini break in posting I have been a little bit busy this past week.

I know it seems to be taking forever to get through this series of ESAD Birthday Fairy Challenge cards, but it is almost done.

This is the fifth card in the series of cards I made.

ESAD Birthday Fairy - March 5

This card was made with a Whisper White card stock base and was layered with Pool Party card stock and a strip of Sweet Sorbet designer series paper.  The leaves for the flower were die cut from Pistachio Pudding card stock using the Little Leaves Sizzlit die.

I’m going to keep this post short as I am still working on my convention swaps and I am leaving in 11 days to head to Melbourne and they still aren’t finished.
