South Pacific Convention May 2013

Hi friends

Well I promised I would post some photos of my fabulous time at convention.  As I have mentioned this was my very first attendance at a Stampin’ Up! convention, and boy am I glad I went.  I can’t tell you how amazingly fantastic it was.  It was definitely one of the best weeks of my life.  I got to meet the co-founder and CEO of Stampin’ Up! Shelli Gardner and her gorgeous husband Stirling.  They are so friendly and down to earth and very approachable.

I laughed a lot and shed some tears too.  Some of the inspirational stories that we heard from the presenters were real tear jerkers.  I got to know people I already knew on a more intimate level and learnt lots of new things, along with getting the opportunity to preview some great new products that will be released with the new catalogue in June.

I also got to experience the wonderful infectious enthusiasm of the amazing Bonnie Thurber and Brian Pilling.  I had lovely accidental chats (usually in the hotel lift), with some of the US staff, including Rich Jutkins the President and CEO of Stampin’ Up!.  Sorry do I sound like a name dropper?

Ok enough of my chit chat here are some of my favourite photos.

P1020349This is two of my favourite people, Michelle Zahra (my upline), on the left and Shannean Moncrieff (my up upline) on the right.

P1020354This is my new friend Alexis (left) and another of my favourite people Coral (right).  In the background you can see Helen having a chat as usual….lol

Some more of my most  favourite people, Sandra (left), Sally, Jan and Kathy.

Check out this beautiful stage set.  The background colour kept changing.  If this frame looks familiar it’s because it is very similiar to the cover of the new Stampin’ Up! cataglogue.  The flowers and bunting were so intricate and beautiful.

P1020362How amazing is this giant flower that was on the side of the stage.

P1020370

This is the lovely Shelli Gardner (co-founder & CEO) welcoming us all to convention.

P1020387Here is me and Shelli in the demonstrator workshop area.  There were stations that previewed some great new products that are coming up and we were shown how best to use them.  Can’t wait to get my hands on them.  I had so much fun playing it really was hard to leave.

P1020384

Now what would a blog post about a Stampin’ Up! convention be without a photo of the gorgeous Bonnie Thurber.  She has such an infectious love of all things SU that you can’t help but love her the minute you meet her.

My final photo for this post is me (left) and my wonderful upline Michelle, isn’t she just gorgeous.  I really love this lady she is always there for me whenever I need her and I appreciate everything she does for me.  You know, the best thing about being a part of Stampin’ Up!, isn’t the fabulous events or the amazing freebies and rewards we receive, it’s the people you get to meet.
Everyone I have met through Stampin’ Up! is lovely, generous and kind, they are more than just work associates, they become life-long friends, people you can turn to in good and bad times.  I am so very thankful for all these wonderful ladies and hope that they know how much the all mean to me.

If you would like to experience this same kind of connection with people, while receiving an amazing discount on all your craft purchases then contact me today at mtjohnson02@hotmail.com to see how you too can join my team, and become a valued member of the Stampin’ Up! family.

Thanks for visiting.

My Convention Swap

Hi there!

Well now that Stampin’ Up! South Pacific 2013 Convention is done and dusted I thought I would show you a full view of my swap.  You many remember that I gave you a sneak peek quite a few weeks ago.

This was my very first convention and I have had the most amazing week.  We received so many wonderful free gifts and I spent some wonderful time with some beautiful friends.  I am totally addicted to Stampin’ Up! conventions and have already put in my holidays for next years one.  If you have never attended a convention, I strongly suggest that if it is at all possible for you do to so then you really shouldn’t miss out on these fantastic events.

Here is my swap that I made.

Convention May 2013 swap - JanI made 100 swaps, 50 in basic grey and pool party as in this photo and 50 in river rock and summer starfruit.

Convention May 2013 swap inside - JanAs you can see I made a tag and tag holder for my swap.  I used the Stippled Blossoms stamp set for the little flower.

Convention swap - Summer Starfruit

Convention swap - Summer Starfruit openI was worried I wouldn’t end up swapping all my swaps, but thankfully I swapped all 100.  So I came home with 100 lovely swaps to use as inspiration.

I will be back tomorrow with some photos of my time at convention.

Thanks for visiting.

Another Sympathy Card

Boo!

Did I scare you???

I know I said yesterday that I probably wouldn’t be posting again this week, but an opportunity to make another card arose so I thought I would show it to you today before I head off to Brisbane tomorrow.

One of the ladies at work lost her father last weekend.  Her dad has been living in a nursing home on the Sunshine Coast for about the past year or so and he had a fall sometime last week.  He went into surgery on Friday of  last week and unfortunately suffered a heart attack during the surgery.  Thankfully they were able to bring him back but God was calling his name and he had another heart attack on Saturday and passed away.

I have a lot of respect and time for Jenny, she is one of our supervisors at work and she is one of the sweetest ladies you will ever meet.  She is always there for me when I am having a tough time at work and things are getting on top of me.  So with this in mind the least I could do was offer to make a sympathy card for her and her family at this very sad time.  The team at work is collecting money so we can send a bouquet of flowers to her and her mum who lives in Brisbane, just to let them know we are thinking of them.

I cased a card from Allisa Chilton to make my card for Jenny.

Here is the card I was casing.  Allisa is not a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator but she does make beautiful cards.

S1301 Close To My Heart For Always CardI have the actual stamp set that Allisa used in her card so I thought I would use it too.  All other products are Stampin’ Up! though.

Here is my version of Allisa’s card.

Sympathy Card for JennyI embossed the Medallion background stamp with Pewter embossing powder and used Perfect Plum and Basic Grey card stock and basic grey DSP.  Here is a close up of the flower and embossing detail in the background.

Sympathy Card for Jenny close up

I chose not to colour in the rose and leaves.  I added some small pearls to make it a little bit feminine, and used Stampin’ Up! framelits for the frame behind the rose.

I really hope Jenny likes my card.

Raining Flowers

Hi!

Well it’s been a couple of weeks since my last blog, but I have been a little bit busy.  Life, you know, it has a habit of getting in the way of leisure time.

I finally found the time to attend one of my best-friends card classes this past Sunday morning.  We made three gorgeous cards with the raining flowers stamp set from Stampin’ Up!.  I really like these cards but they are so not my style.  I don’t often used the brights family of colours.

Take a look at what we got up to.

Raining Flowers - Sally's card class

This was the first card we  made.  I must admit even though I own this stamp set I haven’t used it until now.  Guess I better pull it off the shelf and get busy.

Raining Flowers 1 - Sally's card classThe second card required a little bit of masking to make sure  nothing overlapped.

Raining Flowers 2 - Sally's card class

Our third and final card.  I love how striking the black butterflies look against all these bright colours.

I think I will be sending these three down to my Dad to give to his friends.

Well I probably won’t be posting again now for at least a week as I am heading off to Brisbane on Wednesday to attend Stampin’ Up!’s 2013 Annual Convention.  I am so very excited about going.  It’s the first time I have ever attended a convention and it’s probably the best one to make my debut as it’s also going to be celebrating Stampin’ Up!’s 25th Anniversary.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and I will post some photos of convention next week.

Thanks for visiting

Message Board Housewarming Present Updated

Hi there,

I posted this post a couple days ago, but since then I have been thinking about this project.  It’s not that I wasn’t happy with the completed product, it’s just…… Well I thought it was a little plain for my liking.

So what did I do???  Added a bit of BLING of course!!!!!!

I could really go crazy with this project adding bits and pieces but I have to remember that there needs to be some room left to actually use the note board.

Here are some new photos of the new and improved message board.  This first photo is my initial changes.  Sorry about the shadows and glare, but with the glass on top it is a bit difficult to photograph.

P1020319

The first thing I did was add some of the new paper tape ribbon from Stampin’ Up!, then I dyed some roses from the rosebud ribbon with my reinkers.  However, I still wasn’t happy so tonight I got into my craft room and added a bit more .

P1020321

So I added some silver metallic pearls to the top of the glass to fill in the little centre of each “flower” in the paper tape ribbon, and I added some larger silver metallic pearls to the centre’s of my coloured roses.

P1020322

Next I added a string of the larger silver metallic pearls to the Lucky Limeade ribbon.

P1020323

Finally I added another large silver metallic pearl to the centre of my bow and a smaller one to the centre of the clock charm.

This is a shot of how the whole board looks now.

P1020324

I think my little additions have made the board just that much more cute.  I’m really happy with how it looks now.  Still have to work on the pen cup and pen, which I promise I will be doing this week.  So keep an eye out for them.

Thanks for visiting.

Message Board Housewarming Present

Well it’s been a pretty quiet weekend so far around here.  Our daughter is home from university for the weekend so my car is getting a workout this weekend.

I got all my Mother’s Day cards posted off today, so they will arrive nice and early.  After posting the cards I got to thinking that I haven’t sent a housewarming card to my Dad and his girlfriend Lyn since they moved into their new house.  They have only been in for almost a month I think, so I’m not too late.

Well, I got thinking and I remember getting a tutorial on how to make a re-writable message board through my subscription to http://www.CraftProjectCentral.com.  Seeing as I have been “collecting” these tutorials for about 2-1/2 years now I thought I should get some value from my money and actually make one of the projects.  So I did, (well half of it at this stage anyway).

Here is my message board I have made.

Notes Message Board

I pretty much stuck to the tutorial, except I put my letters under the glass (to save them getting damaged in the post).  I still need to make the pen jar and coordinating whiteboard marker, which I will do as soon as I purchase a whiteboard marker.  I will add to this post once I have finished the other items.

I used the Tea for Two DSP from Stampin’ Up! and the matching Tea Time Trinkets and Lucky Limeade ruffled ribbon.  The frame is one I picked up from K-Mart for a couple of dollars a while back.

Such a simple, quick project, it would be perfect to sell at markets.

If you would like to purchase all or any of these products please go to my website at http://www.stampinup.net/esuite/home/tina-janejohnson/ and click on “SHOP”.  The lucky limeade ribbon is retiring at the end of the current catalogue so don’t miss out.  Mmmm that reminds me I better purchase another roll myself.

Mother’s Day Deja Blue, Purple & Yellow

Hello blogging friends,

I have been busy recreating the Mother’s Day card I showed you the other day.  I have ended up making five of these cards.  The pink one I have already showed you is for my mum, I have made a yellow one for my mother-in-law, a blue one for my dad’s girlfriend, and a purple one for my step-daughter and a second purple one for one of the ladies at work who ordered a Mother’s Day card.

This is my mother-in-laws card.

Mother's Day card for Mum J

I made this one with Daffodil Delight, Very Vanilla, & Crumb Cake card stock from Stampin’ Up! and of course the same stamp sets as the earlier post.

Mother's Day card for Kirsty

This is for my step-daughter and was made with Concord Crush, Wisteria Wonder & Very Vanilla card stock.

The final card is for my dad’s girlfriend and is made with Pacific Point, Very Vanilla & Crumb Cake card stock.

Mother's Day card for Lyn

Which colour is your favourite?  I think I really like the yellow, it turned out so well.  Although they all look good (well I think so anyway….lol).  I hope all these wonderful ladies will love their card when they receive it next week.

Thanks for visiting.
