Stippled Blossoms for Mum

Hi Friends

I hope you are enjoying me getting back to regular posting.  I try to post on a regular basis but as we all know sometimes life can interfer with our best intentions.

Do you like my new method of writing my posts?  I thought it might be more user friendly for you if I not only provide item numbers for the current products that I used to make my cards but also provide links directly to my Stampin’ Up! shop for that particular product, just in case you want to get your own.

I love this card that I made for my mum for her birthday this month.  My mum and our grand-baby celebrate their birthday’s on exactly the same day so it gives me the opportunity to make two very different cards at the same time.

My mum just loves the colour PINK so I always make her a pink themed card.  I also decided to use one of my most favourite stamp sets for this card…the gorgeous but sadly retired Stippled Blossoms.

Again, this is another card that I found on Pinterest and CASED.

Mum's bday card

Whisper White card stock #106549 was again used for both the card base and the mat.  The stamp set is what we call at Stampin’ Up! as a “Two-Step” stamp set.  Which means you have a base solid stamp and a more detailed partial stamp of the image.

The flowers are stamped in Blushing Bride ink #131172 and Rose Red ink #126954 and I stamped the leaves in Pear Pizzazz ink #131180 and Old Olive ink #126953.

I to make the leaves look like they are behind the flowers I firstly stamped both layers of the flowers and then stamped the flower image onto a Post-It Note (remember to stamp your image up the top of the Post-It Note so you have the sticky bit) and stuck it over the stamped flowers, I then stamped the leaves in both colours.  If you have never used Two-Step stamps remember you always stamp the solid stamp first in a light colour then stamp the more detailed stamp in a darker colour of the top.

Of course if you used Stampin’ Up! wood mount stamps you will most definitely need a Stamp-a-ma-jig #101049 it is a must-have for any stamper. Helps you position stamped images exactly where you want, every time. Instructions are included and its perfect for alphabet sets.  It is an invalulable crafting tool that I think is sometimes overlooked.  If you love wood mount stamps like I do then you definitely need one of these!

The butterflies on this card are punched out with two seperate punches, the larger butterfly is punched out with the Elegant Butterfly punch #127526 and the smaller butterfly is the Bitty Butterfly punch #129406.  Both butterflies have been embossed with another retired embossing folder….sorry about that 😦

This gorgeous greeting is unfortunately also retired but was stamped in Old Olive ink too.  If you look really carefully (you can click on the image to make it larger) you will see some Pearl Basic Jewels #119247 in the middle of the butterfly.

Please leave me your comments by clicking on the little red love heart in the top right hand corner of this post, I always love to hear your thoughts.

Happy stamping!

Michelle’s class samples part 3

Hi crafty friends

I’m back today to show you the third of the cards I made at Michelle’s class.  Of course I have left the most spectacular card until last…:)

I did change this card just a little.  It was originally designed as a birthday card but I decided to use it for an engagment card because it really is THAT special, plus I have a very special engagement party coming up in March so I figured may as well use this card for that purpose.

This card was also made using a new technique, apparently this type of card design is called a Z-Fold card.  You will see why when I show you the side view of it.

Butterfly Basics Framelits card - front

Wow hey?  This card has lots and lots of layers and would be a bit expensive to post but it really does have the WOW factor.

I started with a base card of Basic Black card stock that was folded in half and then the bottom half was folded in half again.  the second layer of all the panels is Sahara Sand card stock and the top layer is from the Something Borrowed DSP.  This designer series paper is just gorgeous and is perfect for wedding or engagement cards or gifts.

The two butterflies are cut using the Butterflies Thinlits Dies and Basic Black and Whisper White card stock.  Aren’t they just beautiful?  So many possibilities with them.

The greeting I used is from a retired stamp set and was stamped on Whisper White card stock with Black StazOn ink and matted with Basic Black card stock.  Both pieces of card stock were punched out using the Decorative Label Punch.  I love the new Sahara Sand Lace Trim, it is so classic.  Dimentes were added to the middle of the smaller butterfly for a touch of bling.

Butterfly Basics Framelits card - side

From this angle you can see what it’s called a Z-Fold card and how we folded it.  The two circles up the top are popped up with a dimensional so the front layer can slot in underneath and stay upright.
Butterfly Basics Framelits card - insideThis is the greeting on the inside of the card.  The background is stamped with Sahara Sand ink using the Butterfly Basics stamp set.  Once again the greeting is from a retired stamp set.

I so love how this card turned out, it really is an amazing card to see up close.  I am hoping my newly engaged step-son and his gorgeous finace love this card as much as I do.

All products, except the greetings is current and can be purchased at my Stampin’ Up! shop, just click on the shopping trolley and log in or create an account and start shopping right from your lounge room.

Your comments are always welcome and I love reading them so if the need takes you please leave me a comment at the end of the post.

Thanks for visiting.

With Sympathy

Hi Friends

Earlier this month I was asked to make a sympathy card for my ex-boss.

Her mum passed away after a battle with cancer and even though she has now left our workplace we all wanted to know that we were thinking of her.

This is what I made for her.

Sympathy card for Jody

I used Whisper White card stock and Bermuda Bay card stock and matching designer series paper.

I cased this card from one I found off Pinterest, but unfortunately I can’t remember who posted it originally.

I really like how this card turned out.

Sympathy card for Jody (inside)

I kept the inside pretty simple so there was plenty of room for everyone to write a little something.

Thanks for visiting.

Butterfly thank-you

Hi there

I must admit I haven’t been doing too much crafting in the past month, but that has all just started to change in this past week.  I am beginning to get back into the craft room and I’m enjoying every minute of it.  I tend to have periods of no crafty activity due to a lack of birthdays or events occurring that warrant a card.  However, with Mothers Day and my MIL’s birthday coming up in May I thought I should get my act together and start creating again.

Just recently my husband and I have purchased a gorgeous Birman kitten, who has quickly stolen our hearts and is our new baby.  We are also going to be purchasing a second Birman cat (who coincedently is our kittens mum) in May and will be travelling down to Townsville to catch up with our breeder and pick up our new little girl.

With this in mind I thought I would make Leslea (she’s the breeder), a thank-you card for all her help and friendship.  I cased a card from the wonderfully talented Vicki Burdick.  I just love everything Vicki does, and thanks to this thing called the internet we have become friends.

All materials used in this card are Stampin’ Up! except for the butterfly stamp.  I love how this card turned out and I hope Leslea loves it as much as I do.

Leslea's thank-you card

Here are a couple of close ups of different parts of the card.

Leslea's thank-you card close up 1I love the little banners at the top of the card.

Leslea's thank-you card close up 2I love the butterfly “stamps” on the card front.  These butterflies have so much detail and are really lovely.

I hope you have enjoyed looking at my newest card today, hope you will come back tomorrow to see what else I have to show you.

Thanks for visiting.
